VNU to co-host APEC University Leaders’ Forum
Within the framework of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders' Week (AELW) held in Da Nang from November 6 to November 11, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) of Vietnam and Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), is to hold the APEC University Leaders’ Forum (AULF) on November 8, 2017.

VNU is the region’s only university selected by the APRU to be a partner in organizing this meaningful event for higher education in the Asia-Pacific region. VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn will deliver a speech at the Opening Ceremony of the Forum.

Under the theme “The Fourth Industrial Revolution, the AULF brings together nearly 60 participants from the region’s selected universities, businesses and state management agencies.

AULF 2017 provides opportunities for university presidents, policymakers, and business leaders from the APEC member economies to meet and share their experience in university management in the context of the region and the world’s higher education facing the challenge of adapting to the world’s uncertainty and the rapid changes brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

AULF 2017 comprises 2 sessions: 1) Sustainable Development, Big Data and Asia-Pacific Challenges; and 2) Employment in the Age of the Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence.

Visiting VNU on June 16, 2017, APRU Secretary General Christopher Tremewan, besides inviting VNU to co-host the APEC University Leaders’ Forum, shared on APRU’s plan for expanding its network with the participation of leading research universities in the region as well as wished that VNU would soon become an official member of the APRU.

Currently, as an active key member of such regional and international higher education organizations and networks as the Network of four major East-Asia  universities (BESETOHA), the ASEAN University Network (AUN), Francophone University Association (AUF), the Association of Southeast Asian and Taiwanese Universities (SATU), the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) ...; and  especially, by being  recognized as one of the thirteen pillars of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) with the PM’s Decision, VNU deserves the status of a leading university in Vietnam.
