The product, developed by a group of scientists from VNU University of Engineering and Technology and VNU Centre for Information Technology, has been registered for intellectual property and successfully applied in practice.

Speaking at the ceremony, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Hữu Đức said that VNU had been building a start-up ecosystem under a “four-in-one” model, ranging from ideas, innovation and invention to intellectual property rights and knowledge transfer.

Introducing the product at the launching ceremony, Mr. Đào Kiến Quốc – A lecturer from VNU University of Engineering and Technology, said that EMDDI was the first application in Vietnam designed to allow thousands of transport units to autonomously operate within a system.

Transport companies can independently configure their own systems through the application for such transport services as motorbike, automobile, taxi as well as goods delivery, charging, route selecting and promotion policies advertising...

The application is different from Uber or Grab in that it allows transport firms to become ride-hailing developers within 10 minutes. As for the customer, he only needs to install a single software (app).

The application can distinguish administrative boundaries to help customers choose the most suitable vehicle. EMDDI also automatically connects to local transport companies.

EMDDI is being implemented in more than 20 provinces and cities with thousands of participating vehicles, including those of taxi companies operating under the pilot project of electronic vehicles of the Ministry of Transport. In Hanoi, EMDDI has signed a cooperation agreement with 17 taxi companies under Hanoi Taxi Association.
