On May 4, 2023, VNU President Le Quan had a meeting with Special Advisor to the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance Takebe Tsutomu during his visit to Vietnam to promote the establishment of the Centre for Japanese Culture and Language at VNU Vietnam Japan University (VJU) for diversifying the training of the university.

The idea of establishing a Centre for Japanese Language and Culture to support the training of human resources in skills, language, culture, etc. in the form of short-term programs in collaboration with different educational institutions was introduced at the second meeting of the VNU Vietnam Japan University Council for the 2021-2026 term in February. VNU President Le Quan said that VNU had prepared all necessary facilities, learning and living conditions as well as training programs to soon put the Centre into operation. VNU President expected Mr. Takebe to promote cooperation between the Centre and Japanese enterprises to bring qualified human resources to Japan to work. With this approach, VNU Vietnam Japan University will soon attract 2,500 students as required by the Japanese Government.

The establishment of the Centre for Japanese Culture and Language at VNU Vietnam Japan University is to exploit VNU's multi-disciplinary advantages, ensure the human resources quality and attract research contracts and investment from businesses.

On this occasion, the Special Advisor also raised the issue of establishing a Career Development Centre to provide job opportunities for workers returning from Japan. He hoped that VNU could participate in methodical consultations and surveys, especially in the legal aspects of Vietnam and Japan for establishing this centre.

VNU President Le Quan expressed his respect for Mr. Takebe's enthusiasm for the development of Vietnam Japan University and appreciated the feasibility of the Special Advisor’s proposal based on the expertise of VNU Human Resource Development Centre which is capable of collaborating with the Japanese partner in this field.

In addition, VNU President Le Quan and Mr. Takebe discussed the development of tourism training programs towards the establishment of an International Tourism and Culture Training Institute at VJU as well as establishing a cultural exchange centre to attract international students to study and experience in Hoa Lac.
