Promoting public-private cooperation in higher education
On May 11, 2023, VNU leaders had a meeting with the leaders of T&T Group and Saigon Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) to discuss cooperation plans in 2023.

At the meeting, the two institutions discussed the situation of cooperation in 2022 and the policy of cooperation on a number of projects in 2023.

The cooperation agreement between T&T Group and VNU signed on November 20, 2021 was the first strategic cooperation agreement between VNU and a domestic partner. The specific areas of cooperation include urban development, infrastructure development of VNU town in Hoa Lac; scientific research, technology transfer; human resources training and development; social security.

Within the framework of the 2022 VNU Investment Promotion Conference, VNU and SHB signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement. Since December 2022, the two sides have initiated the building of the Centre for Excellent Research and Training in Finance and Banking Technology which was expected to become the first model of international standard finance and banking technology training in Vietnam. In addition, VNU has built a team to implement the task of the SHB-VNU Core Banking and Finance Practice Centre and a multi-purpose classroom designed as an integrated space between the Banking Transaction Office, the securities and insurance training space, and an integrated space for seminar/talk/coaching, fully equipped with modern and smart professional software and equipment with necessary tools, features and multi-function classrooms. Besides, VNU and SHB have cooperated in human resource training; products and utilities accessing; social security.

At the meeting, the leaders of VNU, T&T Group and SHB discussed and proposed the building of a three-route heritage road in the area of Da Lat lakeside road. The project aims at meeting the need of a landscape, environment, green, clean and beautiful space to support VNU’s students’ study and lecturers’ work in Hoa Lac as well as creating traffic connections in the central area of Hoa Lac-based VNU project, where the construction of VNU's administrative building and many other important structures has begun to specially mark the 30th anniversary of VNU's establishment.

VNU President Le Quan said that in the coming time, VNU would focus on implementing key national science and technology programs linked with local socio-economic development such as the Northwest Program, the science and technology program for attracting investments in socio-economic development of coastal provinces. He also added that VNU had restructured the list of training professions and piloted a lot of training programs, especially the ones in Creative Design, Engineering - Technology. In addition, VNU prioritizes attracting highly qualified staff and leading scientists through its policies, programs and projects.

VNU President Le Quan hoped that VNU would continue to receive support and cooperation from alumnus Do Quang Hien, T&T Group and SHB Bank in programs and projects on training high quality human resources as well as ordering scientific research in Medicine and Pharmacy, especially advanced medicine, gerontology, etc.

VNU President Le Quan wished that T&T Group would continue to provide scholarships for VNU’s undergraduates, and graduates, which enables VNU to select 100 excellent individuals each year to nurture a generation of highly qualified scientists for the country.

Mr. Do Quang Hien - Founder of T&T Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SHB expressed his gratitude and appreciation for VNU leaders' interest in the past cooperation activities. He said that, with the role and national mission, VNU deserved to be the locomotive leading the two important pillars of education & training as well as science & technology, contributing to socio-economic development and turning Vietnam into a high-income country by 2045.
