Listed among the world’s 70 leading quality educational institutions, VNU advances greatly in THE Impact Rankings 2023
On June 1, 2023, the Times Higher Education (THE) announced its Impact Rankings 2023 results. Accordingly, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has improved its rank compared to 2022, featuring in Group 401-600 globally. In particular, VNU’s Quality Education Goal made a big jump, ranked 70th globally (5th in Southeast Asia and 1st in Vietnam).

Together with VNU, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ton Duc Thang University, Phenikaa University, Duy Tan University, FPT University, the National Economics University, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City Open University were also featured in the named Rankings.

THE Impact Rankings released the ranking against the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the United Nations in 2016, calling for global action to build a peaceful, fair and prosperous society. It evaluates an education institution’s impact on and contribution to the social and human development as well as environmental protection.

A total of 1,591 higher education institutions participated in the latest rankings (with an increase of 185 institutions compared to 2022).

In this year’s Rankings, VNU was evaluated against 7 SDGs, of which, 2 SDGs were listed in Top 100 and 4 SDGs listed in Top 201-300. Specifically,

- SDG 3 - Good Health and Wellbeing: VNU was listed in Group 801-1000 out of 1,218 participating educational institutions;

- SDG 4 - Quality Education: VNU was ranked 70th out of 1,304 participating educational institutions;

- SDG 5 - Gender Equality: VNU was ranked 97th out of 1,081 participating educational institutions;

- SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth: VNU was listed in Group 201-300 out of 960 participating educational institutions;

- SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities: VNU was listed in Group 201-300 out of 901 participating educational institutions;

- SDG 16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: VNU was listed in Group 201-300 out of 910 participating educational institutions;

- SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals: VNU was listed in Group 201-300 out of 1,625 participating educational institutions.

With an advance in all the SDGs against which VNU was evaluated, it had made a big step forward, featuring in Group 401-600 with a score of 70.1 – an increase of 9.1 points compared to the 2022 ranking period (61 points).
