11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

The research results confirm the hypotheses formulated at the beginning of the study and provide answers to our questions. The key findings can be summarized as follows:

Deverbalization plays a pivotal role in comprehension by unveiling latent complexities in the source text. During rephrasing, when the translator can focus on the meaning, they are not hindered by the linguistic elements of the source text, expressing the meaning with great freedom in the target language.

Deverbalization is characterized by the disappearance of calques and interferences at the lexical, grammatical, structural, and syntactic levels. The identification of deverbalization indicators reveals that each professional translation involves a mixture of correspondences, pre-existing equivalences, and discursive equivalences, corresponding to three levels of deverbalization: zero, partial, and total. Cognitive activity is particularly crucial, especially in the case of total deverbalization, highlighting that translation by discursive equivalences is the most effective method for emphasizing these indicators.

Translations through discursive equivalences reveal that deverbalization primarily results from the mobilization of cognitive context, followed by a mental representation activated by cognitive baggage, and finally, a relationship established between different elements (concepts/ideas). Without these factors, deverbalization would not occur, leaving linguistic elements devoid of meaning.

This research confirms the assertion of Interpretive Theory, emphasizing that interlinguistic comparison does not influence the grasping and reexpression of meaning. Deverbalization is demonstrated as a crucial component of written translation. Methodologically, the study proposes tools to explore the translator's 'black box,' highlighting hidden activities in the translation process. Pedagogically, it identifies challenges posed by transcoding and different approaches for each level of deverbalization, thus opening new perspectives for teaching translation from French into Vietnamese.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

This thesis has contributed to elucidating the nature and role of deverbalization in the process of translating from French into Vietnamese. As a result, translators can refine this skill to effectively address challenges encountered during the translation process. Furthermore, by identifying common errors resulting from a lack of deverbalization, educators can implement tailored exercises to assist students in enhancing the quality of their translations.

13. Further research directions, if any:

The results of this thesis may open up further research directions. Firstly, an in-depth exploration of deverbalization is warranted across diverse textual genres and in translation from Vietnamese into French. Secondly, the collection of data from a more diverse cohort of professional translators has the potential to yield more broadly applicable conclusions. Thirdly, undertaking research and crafting exercises to augment students' proficiency in this skill emerges as a promising option. Lastly, insights into the cognitive processes of translators can significantly contribute to the advancement and refinement of machine translation services.
