Former Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide visited VNU Vietnam – Japan University and exchanged with its students
On January 10, 2023, former Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide visited VNU Vietnam - Japan University (VNU VJU) and had a meeting with its staff, lecturers and students.

VNU President Le Quan - Chairman of VNU VJU’s Council and Prof. Furuta Motoo – Rector of VNU Vietnam - Japan University welcomed and had a meeting with the delegation.

Speaking at the meeting, former Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide affirmed that VNU VJU was a symbol of the friendly relationship between Japan and Vietnam, especially in training global human resources for the next generation. He said that the Japanese Government, businesses, and universities would continue to accompany and support VNU VJU in its development. Former Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide hoped that VNU leaders would continue to pay attention to, direct, and support the construction of a new campus of VJU in Hoa Lac along with the issues related to special financial mechanisms.

VNU President Le Quan expressed his respect for the affection and concern of H.E. Mr. Suga Yoshihide as well as expressed his pleasure to welcome him to VNU on the occasion of the new year 2023, a special year marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. To date, VNU has submitted the Pre-Feasibility Study Report on the "Investment and construction of VNU Vietnam - Japan University" project to the Vietnamese Prime Minister. Along with the priority facilities for VNU VJU to conduct teaching and learning activities on Hoa Lac campus, VNU also prepared a project to help VNU VJU attract and develop a team of high-quality scientists.

At the meeting, Rector of VNU VJU Prof. Furuta Motoo and the former Japanese Prime Minister discussed new steps in training, research, and development of the University’s facilities. Prof. Furuta Motoo said that thanks to the great and effective support of VNU, especially the drastic and close direction of VNU President Le Quan - Chairman of VNU VJU’s Council, many important issues have been resolved timely and effectively.

In 2020, during his first overseas trip after taking office, Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide visited VNU VJU and delivered a speech on Japan's foreign policy.  To celebrate this event, VNU VJU organized a series of 15 special lectures on contemporary Japan and Vietnam-Japan cooperation, especially in the fields mentioned by Prime Minister Suga in his presentation, such as politics, law, Vietnam - Japan strategic partnership, digital technology, supply chain, response to the Covid-19 pandemic, human resources training, cultural exchange, etc.
