Meeting on SYLFF Scholarship between Tokyo Foundation and VNU Hanoi and VNU Ho Chi Minh City
On April 14, 2023, at Lecture Hall HT1, a meeting between Tokyo Foundation, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNUHN) and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) on the management and usage of fellowship funding from the SYLFF Program took place.

On the side of VNUHN, there were Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tu - Head of Investment Promotion Department, cum Director of VNU Foundation, Mr. Tran Kien - Deputy Director of Foundation, Mr. Le Xuan Tinh - Deputy Head of Planning and Finance Department.

On the side of VNUHCM, there were Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung Deputy - Head of Finance Department, Ms. Bui Thi Hong Hanh - Head of Department of External Relations and Project Development, Mr. Ho Ngoc Bac - Specialist of Department of External Relations and Project Development.

The Tokyo Foundation is represented by Ms. Mari Suzuki - Executive Director of Leadership Development and Mr. Keita Sugai - Director of the Tokyo Foundation.

SYLFF program is a collaborative initiative of The Nippon Foundation, the endowment donor, and The Tokyo Foundation, the program administrator. Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, had the honor of being 2 out of 69 prestigious universities in 44 countries around the world receiving the support of one million USD from Nippon Foundation (Japan) as a scholarship fund to identify and nurture young talents to meet the development needs of the country.

At the meeting, representative of Tokyo Foundation agreed to assign VNUHN and VNUHCM to manage and use scholarships from the SYLFF program independently. VNUHN and VNU-HCM commit to using the scholarships following the agreement signed with Tokyo Foundation.

Tokyo Foundation also agreed to VNU's proposal for the combination of the SYLFF Scholarship Program and VNU's Young Talent Nurturing Scholarship Program, which VNU Foundation is the focal point to receive and manage to select the outstanding postgraduates of VNU. Every year, VNU Foundation will be responsible for reporting to Tokyo Foundation on issues related to applicants and directly signing contracts with selected postgraduate students to ensure the donor's commitments.

STYLFF program, in conjunction with VNU's Young Talent Nurturing Scholarship Program, hopes to contribute to spreading the spirit of learning and research among young researchers, thereby nurturing, attracting, fostering and training excellent human resources, contributing to VNU's mission to become an excellent university according to international standards.
