Research proposal of VNU VJU’s lecturer funded by GIST

Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Hoang Ha’s research proposal gets funded

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Ha was so glad to know that her research proposal gets funded by Gwangju Institute of Science & Technology – GIST right on the first days of the New Year 2023.

"I feel very happy and motivated to receive the research fund. Though the funding amount is not so high and the implementation period is in a short time, this is the basis to apply for fund in the coming years as well as from other research funds. This is also the chance to cooperate with scientists from Gwangju Institute of Science & Technology (GIST) as well as with scientists, universities and research institutes in some other developing countries (also get funded)."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoang Ha has joined VJU as Full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Advanced Technologies and Engineering since September 2022. She was a former lecturer at VNU University of Science (2011-2022) where her main responsibilities were teaching and conducting scientific researches in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Assoc. Prof. Ha received her PhD at Ehime University (Japan) in 2011 and was conferred the Assoc. Prof. certificate of recognition in 2019. She has participated in formulating and teaching in various undergraduate and graduate programs at VNU; has been being principal researcher and participated in many research projects at national, ministerial, international collaboration, and other levels. She published 07 books/book chapters, about 40 ISI/Scopus and 60 other peer-reviewed papers in the field of earth science, environment, climate change and sustainable development.

With the research topic of “Impact of climate change on agricultural farmlands and crops in northern Vietnam”, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Ha’s research proposal fulfilled criteria to be funded by GIST. Specifically, GIST (through the International Environmental Research Institute) evaluated research proposals based on such criteria as feasibility, innovation, contribution to local capacity as well as to the knowledge creation by expanding and/or strengthening the relevant literature on growth and development.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Ha shared about her plan “In the coming time, I will focus on doing the research effectively as the implementation period is quite short and one of the requirements is to have it published in world’s prestigious journals. At the same time, I also want to develop this research to continue applying for a renewal”.

With the philosophy of liberal education and sustainable development; with the vision to become Asia’s leading prestigious research university in the field of advanced science and technology and interdisciplinary science, VJU has always encouraged and created favorable conditions for lecturers to do research, teach and collaborate in development and knowledge transfer. VJU also gathers many prestigious and potential lecturers and scientists in many fields including science, technology, engineering and interdisciplinary from which to develop new, interdisciplinary ideas; share information and collaborate on researches, etc.
