VNU – VJU: contributing to high-quality human resources in the food technology sector

Food Technology and Health is an appealing program that has captured the attention of many young people. With new job prospects, this field of study is expected to develop rapidly.

Food technology is the second most important industrial group in terms of human resource demand in the period of 2015-2025. It has been consolidating its position in the Vietnamese economy. Vietnam’s food products not only meet the needs of the domestic market but also successfully hold a high position on the world export map. Furthermore, in line with the integration trend, this industry has increased and diversified its collaborative relationships with other nations to strengthen its competitiveness in the global market.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has classified the food industry as one of the industries with competitive advantages. With the current strong development momentum, this will be a key economic sector of Vietnam in the coming time. Accordingly, food technology engineers will be a significant human resource in cementing Vietnam's position within the field of food technology in the years to come.

Understanding the market demands and ensuring the output quality of high-quality human resources in the food technology sector, Vietnam Japan University will launch a new training program, the Engineer Program in Food Technology and Health (EFTH), in 2023.

The Food Technology and Health Program is one of six undergraduate programs at Vietnam Japan University (VJU). According to Dr. Dang Minh Hieu, the Program Director, "Food science and technology today are used to make food more nutritious and tastier, especially to create new, ready-to-eat foods and convenient meals for a modern, active, and busy life. The Food Technology and Health Program at VJU is a place where you can immerse yourself in new science and technology to create and develop new food products, improve food systems, and protect the integrity and safety of the food supply chain. You will also experience technologies that promote a balanced lifestyle, improve nutrition and diet, make people healthier, strengthen the immune system, and reduce disease risk."

Different from other traditional food technology training programs in Vietnam, the Food Technology and Health Program at VJU, in addition to training engineers with solid knowledge of food and food technology, also focuses on the health aspect, the effects of food and its nutritional properties, and the dietary needs of individuals. The program's health aspect also emphasizes adopting safe, sanitary, and well-informed practices during food preparation.

Job opportunities for Food Technology and Health Engineers after graduation

After graduating, receiving a full-time Food Technology and Health Engineering degree at Vietnam Japan University, you will take on the following job positions:
