More than 2,000 VNU’s officials and students compete in VNU Sports Festival 2023
On April 22, 2023, in Hoa Lac, VNU held the opening ceremony of the 2nd Sports Festival 2023 with the participation of 33 teams representing VNU’s units, and referee team.

The VNU Sports Festival took place from April 22 to November 18, 2023 with 9 competitions for officials and 8 competitions for students.

VNU Vice President Nguyen Hoang Hai and representatives of VNU Office of the President, functional departments; representatives and leaders of VNU’s members, affiliated schools and units, and more than 2,000 officials and students attended the ceremony.

The Sports Festival is an activity to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Government's promulgation of the Decree on VNU (December 10, 1993 - December 10, 2023), as well as to encourage the movement of physical training, strengthening exchange and learning, connecting individuals and units throughout VNU. The Sports Festival is also an exciting activity to welcome the upcoming VNU Trade union congresses at all levels. In particular, this is a big festival to arouse the sports potential of a large number of staff and students, who regularly practice sports to improve health for study, work, and to contribute to VNU’s sustainable development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, VNU Vice President Nguyen Hoang Hai said that this activity aimed to create a healthy sports playground for improving health, and contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of VNU’s officials and employees.

VNU town in Hoa Lac is a green, modern space with many facilities, including modern dormitories, the Library and Digital Knowledge Centre Space; the modern lecture-lab complexes, lakeside camping areas, tea hill space; the physical education space with an extremely large green lawn for physical and outdoor activities for VNU student comprehensive education.

VNU has determined a comprehensive model to educate its Hoa Lac-based students to be physically healthy; mentally strong; and good in social skills, emphasized VNU Vice President Nguyen Hoang Hai.

Many exciting and attractive activities were performed on the opening day: 33 teams of athletes participated in the parade. The most impressive activity in the opening ceremony was the VNU staff and student sports parade with the theme "VNU youth for happiness, health, study, training, building and defending the country - Green Hoa Lac – Dream empowerer".

The game of tug of war took place right after the opening session and ended up with the coalition of VNU University of Engineering and Technology and VNU University of Economics and Business as the first prize winner; VNU Campus Management Centre as the second prize winner; and VNU Library and Digital Knowledge Centre as the third prize winner.
