VNU - VJU: Students graduate with Dual degree programs and integrated Engineer - Master in Civil Engineering

Vietnam National University has just approved 02 VJU projects, including the Engineer program integrated with a Master’s program in Civil Engineering, and VJU students are able to get degrees in Civil Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering at the same time.

Vietnam Japan University has been implementing 04 undergraduate programs with majors: Japanese Studies (BJS), Computer Science and Engineering (BCSE), Civil Engineering (ECE), and Smart Agriculture & Sustainability (ESAS). The Engineer’s program in Civil Engineering with a training time of 4.5 years attracts many students thanks to the high demand for recruiting engineers in Japan. In 2023, VJU expected to open 02 new Engineer’s programs in Intelligent Mechatronics System & Japanese Manufacturing (EMJM) and Food Technology and Health (EFTH).

Faced with the need for high-quality human resources that can immediately meet the requirements of the Vietnamese and Japanese labor markets, in 2023, Vietnam Japan University has developed a project to combine training students with high-quality human resources from undergraduate to master's in Civil Engineering and a training route for the second degree in Computer Science and Engineering for students studying Civil Engineering.

For those students who learn the Engineer’s Program in Civil Engineering at VJU, the approved project brings huge advantage for students receiving 02 degrees concurrently after graduation, Prof. Dr. Sc. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Director of Academic Affairs Department-VNU, Director of VJU Master program in Infrastructure Engineering affirmed that.

The projects will open opportunities for VJU students to access interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and multi-skill knowledge to adapt to rapid market changes and advanced technology development, sharpening and enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Thanks to the innovative approaches, VJU students can have more new career opportunities in the future. The projects are also expected to promptly meet the demand for high-quality human resources in the Vietnam and Japan labor markets.

Integrated Engineer - Master’s Program in Civil Engineering

MCE aims to equip students with knowledge in engineering, technology, design, construction, and management of civil infrastructure. After the course, VJU graduates can research and apply specialized, interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to solve the complex problems of urban infrastructure systems currently facing.

Students who complete the Engineer degree in Civil Engineering (ECE), and get 37 additional credits, will obtain VJU’s Master's degree in the major.

- Training time:

+ Engineer degree: 4.5 years;

+ Master's degree: 5.5 years.

Dual degree programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Civil Engineering for VJU students

The overall goal of the program is to educate and develop human resources in computer science and technology with high qualifications and a competitive edge to be able to work in the domestic and international markets, especially in the industrial revolution of 4.0 and 5.0 society.

The program aims to equip students with modern and practical knowledge of computer science and engineering, enabling learners to apply technologies and techniques in hardware, software, and data analytics based on artificial intelligence to solve information technology problems.

Exposure to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary applications, VJU students can be capable of expanding practical skills in innovative works to promote sustainable development (harmonize socio-economic growth and environmental protection).

Requirements for applying for the second degree in Computer Science and Engineering: Students achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher after the second year of study at VJU. Students will be reserved 56 credits.

After getting the first degree and 96 credits as prescribed by the Computer Science and Engineering Program, VJU students will receive the second degree.
